Triad LNC provides a range of legal nurse consulting, third-party RCA, and event medical planning services. Specialized consultation to attorneys, healthcare organizations, and non-profits in prehospital and interhospital care, telehealth, event medical care, pediatrics, and scope of practice issues are at our core.
Providing care in the prehospital and interhospital environments, either by ground ambulance or air ambulance, requires specialized expertise. This same expertise is needed in evaluating claims of negligence in these areas and evaluating risk.
In the age of COVID-19, the use of telehealth to provide care has exploded. While this access has addressed current needs, ensuring care provided via telehealth is equal or better than that provided in person can vary from provider to provider. This area of care requires a complex understanding of how care is delivered and how that care may or may not meet the standard.

From a one-day fun run or marathon to a multi-day bicyling event, event producers are responsible to care for those who participate. Typically using a combination of paid and volunteer medical providers to assist those in medical need during the event requires an understanding of how a medical plan was developed and approved. Triad LNC provides this unique experience of creating and implementing such plans for events across the country.
The adage "kids are not small adults" remains true for medical record review and standards of care. Understanding the important nuances of pediatric care ensures important details of a case are not missed. Slight changes in behaviors or vital signs can spell significant physiologic changes for the pediatric patient. Failure to identify these changes can cause poor outcomes for the patient.

What's the difference between an Emergency Medical Technician and a Paramedic? What can a Registered Nurse do that a Practical Nurse cannot? When is it appropriate to delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel? Understanding not only what happened but also who was involved in the incident is crucial in the understanding of how and why decisions were made. ARNP, CNS, RN, LPN, LVN, EMT, EMT-P, MD, DO are just some of the mishmash of titles which are involved in medical care. With each having different education and duties, understanding scope of practice and how and when appropriate delegation can occur is important in identifying the key responsibilities in a case.
Even cases with the worst of outcomes do not ensure a legal win. Objective evaluation of a case by a medical professional is important to identify breach of duty and evaluate if this breach caused additional issues. For each case presented, a free telephone conversation is offered to identify initial issues with a case and discuss the medical implications of decisions made by providers.
Substantiating medical opinions and refuting the oppositions witnesses requires in depth medical research. Breaking down the research for consumption by the legal team and jury ensures an understanding of the medical facts of the case.
Having someone on your team who speaks medical is vital in evaluating a claim. Non-medical professionals can miss the nuance of what is being discussed and how it may impact the facts of a case. Working alongside the legal team to provide this experience can make the difference between winning and losing.
Identifying, isolating, and changing processes or behaviors is crucial to avoiding similar errors or poor outcomes in the future. The role of root cause analysis is used to get to the actual cause(s) of an incident. While many organizations perform their own internal root cause analysis, objectivity is sometimes sacrificed by the organization as the persons performing the root cause analysis may unconsciously also be responsible for factors which impact the incident. Third-party analysis of poor outcomes can solve ongoing or recurrent issues by eliminating the bias which is common from internal review.
Fun-runs, marathons, triathlons, and bicycle fundraisers have unique medical needs which need to be addressed to ensure both smooth operation and avoiding poor outcomes. Hoping for the best is not a plan. For any event, having contingency plans for weather, cancellation, and incidents ensures the health of the participants and the community in which the event is held. TRIAD LNC offers event planning consultation to ensure the proper people, equipment, resources, and plans are in place to ensure a smooth event regardless of what happens.
